Below are examples of recent outcomes of the "Bio-Rendering" assignment in Advanced 3D Graphics. Students do
extensive research in order to recreate a particular part of the human body so that it could be used as an illustration in
a biology textbook or medical journal.
Below are examples of poster design assignments and projects from the Advanced Digital Imaging Class. Most of the
posters, for CCHS student plays, are designed for competitions within the ADI class or individual students
decide to incorporate the creation and production of the posters into their independent studies with Mr. Mahony.
Below are examples of recent robot design solutions. Models designed vary in materials and purpose. The robot
design project has flexibility built-in so students can design robots ranging from extremely technical designs
with very specific functions to more simple, entertainment-based objects.
Below are examples of Advanced Digital Imaging students' design solutions to an extremely challenging typographical
assignment in which they are to combine a limited number of randomly assigned, unrelated elements in an integrated
graphical composition.
Below are some images and articles pertaining to the City Building group project done in the 3D Graphics Class. Each student
gets to design a minimum of three futuristic buildings, each having a specific function inter-related to the other buildings
being designed. This project is not only challenging on a design level, but also dependent on effective communication skills
amongst all the students involved.
Below are pages of the latest version of our school website. This site uses custom-written code to allow mutiple editors, and
is being updated daily. Designed by the "Webteam" consisting of student designers working with Mr. Mahony, most notably:
Alex Levine, Will Johnson, David Dolan and Wes Palmer. Click on the image, and you will be directed to the site.
Below are various design solutions to the "My Cube" assignment in the intro level 3D Graphics course, in which students with
newly acquired editing skills reproduce the Rubik's Cube and also develop their own custom game cubes.
Below are examples of student-created mandala designs. After extensive research about mandalas in multiple cultures, students design
and create their own design that produces a personalized and similarly introspection-inducing effect.
Below are images of the latest pre-election, large-scale group collage made in Digital Imaging wherein students utilize newly learned tools and
techniques of Photoshop in order to compose individual intriguing compositions focusing on the issues surrounding the current presidential
campaign. Students decide which issues they feel are most important to them, then arrange imagery in such a way as to convey their relative
importance. Each student develops his or her own piece illustrating the issues they have chosen. Each student then is assigned a piece of an existing
image of either candidate, drawn at random. Each student then successfully resizes and incorporates the individual portrait piece with his or her
existing collage. Students are encouraged to change the original composition of their collage to work with the newly added piece, so that the
entire collage as well as the portrait piece can be seen simultaneously. All pieces when put together describe individual concerns about the issues
as well as a collective view of issues that concern us all.
Below are examples of a popular competition that happens in the Intro to 3D Graphics class. Students utilize newly-learned tools and
techniques to create original jack o'lantern designs that primarily focus on the modeling of the pumpkin itself and the lighting choices.
Below are examples of a fairly intensive two-part assignment involving the creation of two vehicles. The first is an accurate representation
of an existing vehicle useing blueprints, and the second is the creation of an originally designed futuristic or fantasy vehicle.
Below are examples of student work that utilizes highly technical advanced graphics sofware in order to achieve elegant abstract artistic pieces.
Below are examples of results of the leadership collage assignment from Intro to Digital Imaging. In this assignment students choose a person
and create a collage illustrating their subject's leadership qualities. Using newly-learned techniques, they merge multiple acquired images
emphasizing these qualities.
Below are examples of three-dimensional models that have been printed with a Z Corporation 450 printer. The 3D classes have been
totally enriched by the cooperative relationship with Z Corporation. Students in the advanced class have a rare opportunity to actualize
their work on a whole new level. For a brief explanation of the printer and its functions click on this link: Z Corp 450. For more
information about Z Corporation itself and all the amazing things they offer, please click here: Z Corporation
This site features only select lessons and activities of these classes, not the entire curriculum. If your son or daughter wants to find
out more, please send them to visit Mr. Mahony in Room I-4. Most of the images here are to be viewed as examples; they may not have
the student's name associated with the files unless requested by the student. Any student whose name does not appear, and would
like it to be added, please contact Mr. Mahony.
